OneMindNG Smart Cities Demo

This Smart Cities IoT solution was designed to help cities and enterprise clients monitor, analyze, and respond to real-time events through a unified, map-based dashboard. Backed by DELL Technologies, the platform was showcased at major events like LEAP 2023 in Riyadh and the Orange Business MEA Sales Kick-Off 2023 in Jordan.

Authentication & Backend Integration

I integrated Keycloak to handle secure authentication and access control, ensuring smooth sign-ins across multiple user roles. On the backend, I developed RESTful API endpoints to pull in and normalize data from multiple sources — everything from sensor streams to predictive event models.

I also collaborated closely with data engineers to integrate forecasting logic, allowing the system to surface upcoming events based on historical patterns.

Map-First UI with Real-Time Context

For the front end, I used Mapbox to render a highly performant, interactive map that served as the visual foundation of the dashboard. I designed and built a range of UI elements on top of it, including:

• Custom interactive markers and popups
• Responsive data tables
• Real-time charts and alerting components
• Tools for monitoring and drill-down views of urban infrastructure

This allowed users to interact with complex data in a way that felt intuitive and fast, even under heavy load.

Final Thoughts

This was one of the most rewarding projects I've worked on — blending data visualization, real-time infrastructure monitoring, and performance-focused UI development. Beyond the technical challenges, it was exciting to see the product demoed live at international tech events and used to spark conversations about smarter cities and connected infrastructure.

It also gave me valuable experience working across disciplines: from authentication and backend APIs to frontend mapping and real-time data handling — all in a high-stakes, enterprise-facing environment.
